Ticketmaster said on Twitter that “Taylor Swift sale | The Eras Tour at 9 am and 11 am for the Paris La Défense Arena has been suspended. The website added that it will keep people «posted with a new sale schedule as soon as possible.» He also said that «all codes that have not yet been used will remain valid.» An hour later, the Lyon show was the subject of a similar notice.
The problem appears to be caused by a glitch in Ticketmaster, which is causing people to be unable to log into the website with their passwords. At one point, more than 700,000 fans were in line to purchase tickets.
Swift is scheduled to perform in Paris at La Défense Arena on May 9, 10, 11 and 12 and in Lyon on June 2 and 3 as part of the international Eras Tour run. Her global tour is expected to become the first tour in the business’s history to gross $1 billion, according to a recent report by Pollstar, which estimates the final total gross to be $1.4 billion.
Technical difficulties are reminiscent of the first day of Swift’s Eras Tour went on sale in the US, resulting in delays, skyrocketing prices, and ticket sales cancellations. Ticketmaster later canceled the on-sale date entirely, as all shows had been completely sold out.
In a statement on Ticketmaster at the time, Swift said: «I’m not going to make excuses to anyone because we asked them, multiple times, if they could handle this type of demand and they assured us that they could. It’s really amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that so many of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them.»
