The Tampa Bay Rays are off to one of the best starts in MLB history with their 29-9 record.

Their run differential is already +115, they lead all of baseball in batting average (.272), on-base percentage (.345), slugging percentage (.509), home runs (75) and ERA (2.95). They are hands down the best baseball team so far.

However, a radio host in New York says that something is not right with his incredible career.

Evan Roberts, an evening drive host on WFAN, said there is «something fishy» about its historic start.

His co-host, Craig Carton, added that «they’re probably cheating,» a leap Roberts wouldn’t say in his own words, but he did hint that he believed that to be the case.

«I was very skeptical of what I saw this weekend,» Roberts said Monday, regarding the Rays’ series against the New York Yankees, who won two of three games.

Roberts even said that he had «no evidence,» but when Carton said that the «officers» were «overtaking his baseball card,» Roberts’s suspicions continued.

«All of them: Christian Bethancourt? Hello? Taylor Walls? What?» he said. “Because they know what we do, most of us do it? We don’t know who they are, so we’re like, ‘Oh, the Rays are brilliant.’ Here’s the problem: I know who they are. They are not good. The Rays are 19-3 at home. Hello? Will they all wake up? Will they wake up when the article is written in The Athletic, or are you going to wake up now? Sometimes you don’t need proof. Sometimes you have to say, ‘What I’m seeing doesn’t make sense.’ Then I’ll do it. I’m not a Yankees fan. I don’t have to say it. I’ll raise my hand. Hello ladies and gentlemen, what I’m seeing in Tampa doesn’t make sense.»

Well, Jay Recher of WDAE in the Tampa Bay area caught wind of Roberts’ monologue and defended his hometown team while attacking Roberts.

«If you’re going to throw out some trash, don’t be surprised when it gets wet like a line that hits you in the face,» Recher said. «Cracking this mic in any market, but especially when you have multiple sports teams, it’s a privilege. It’s not a right. The things you say will be criticized. You know that. But then again, if you’re going to say something, say something. No tiptoe in. Don’t say, ‘I can’t wait for The Athletic article to come out.’ If you have something to say, say so. Don’t get rid of these lazy narratives and have nothing of substance to back them up. And just a reminder: If he comes to the king of MLB this season, he better not miss.»

«I’ll fly there on my own. I’ll stay with my parents. I’ll give my nephew a hug and celebrate his sixth birthday with him. I’ll walk straight into the WFAN studios and we’ll discuss any Tampa Bay or New York sports team he’d like.» he continued.

«Don’t throw things around and act like it’s no big deal. This platform means something,» Recher added.

Roberts heard Recher’s retort, but stands firm in his belief.

«I’m just being honest about my Rays trivia,» Roberts said Tuesday. «I mean, I’m just calling it what it is. I didn’t realize the whole city of Tampa would be offended. Look at all those shitty players and how they’re having amazing years. They’ve got a lot of guys.» on their team who are suddenly racking up crazy numbers.»

The Rays visit the Bronx on Thursday night for the first game of a four-game series.
