Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., suffered «various injuries» Wednesday after being involved in an accident on his property, his office said.

The severity of the injuries and how they occurred were not immediately clear.

«Congressman Steube was involved in an accident on his property late in the afternoon and has sustained various injuries,» his office said. tweeted. «We will provide additional updates when possible. Please pray for the congressman and his family.»

NBC News has asked Steube’s office for details.

Steube, a third-term lawmaker living in Sarasota, represents Florida’s 17th Congressional District. Rep. Vern Buchanan, who represents District 16, tweeted that it was «horrible» to hear about Steube’s accident and that he wished his fellow Republican a speedy recovery.

Steube recently got a seat on the Ways and Means Committee. He was re-elected to Congress in November with 63.8% of the vote.
