The president of Guinea, Alpha Condé, told the BBC that the death of eight people when they received awareness about the Ebola virus is not representative of his country and assured that in some places people have mobilized to try to stop the outbreak.
But Condé acknowledged that some parts of the country, such as the border with Liberia, remain problematic because many deny the existence of the virus.
The president added that he is organizing a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of Ebola.
The eight deceased in Womey, including doctors, civil servants and journalists, were attacked by the inhabitants of a village where, as in many others, they accuse outsiders of spreading the disease.
