Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has revealed that he has been playing with a broken thumb on his throwing hand since Week 5.

Reporters met with Rodgers at his locker Wednesday, and he said surgery was never considered, adding that he doesn’t think he was badly injured enough to do it.

«I think I’ve had worse injuries than I’ve ever played with. So it’s definitely a challenge, but the days off help. I’m feeling better this week,» he said via The Athletic.

Rodgers added that he broke his index finger in college and found that it was a «little more important finger to deal with» than his thumb.

Rodgers’ injury occurred in the upset loss to the New York Giants in London. Rodgers was injured on the final play of the game when he tried to shoot but was hit by Oshane Ximines.

Ximines’ sack came from Rodgers’ blind side, and it appeared Rodgers grabbed his hand immediately after the sack.

The Packers have struggled this season, but Rodgers hasn’t had an obvious decline in performance to suggest his thumb is affecting his game.
