An Oklahoma mother is accused of killing her three young children, ages 11, 6 and 10 months, and then herself during a supervised visit at her home after an hours-long standoff with police.

An officer responded to a home in Verdigris, in the Tulsa metropolitan area, Thursday afternoon because fireworks were going off outside, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said in a statement. Press release.

The officer found 39-year-old Brandy McCaslin locked inside the home with a firearm. State investigators said they attempted to negotiate with McCaslin for the next three hours.

«After there was no response, officers entered the home where they found McCaslin, along with her three children, dead inside,» the office said. «It was determined that McCaslin shot all three children and then turned the gun on herself.»

The State Bureau of Investigation and the Verdigris Police Department did not immediately return a request for comment Saturday.

Police Chief Jack Shackelford told the tulsa world that a woman went to the home to drop off one of the children with McCaslin for a supervised visitation when McCaslin allegedly pulled a gun on the woman and took the child.

McCaslin then locked the woman and two other children in the garage, according to the newspaper. The woman used fireworks to draw attention to the home and she was able to escape with the help of officers, the police chief told Tulsa World.
