For the third month in a row, Netflix continued to grow its Telugu collection with a bunch of older theatrical releases. June also saw the debut of two major Hindi original projects: crime series Ladle and the anthology film Lust Stories 2. Here are all the new Indian movies and series added to Netflix in June 2023.

gumraah (2023)

gumraah It’s not a remake of the 1993 movie. gumrah (also streaming on Netflix) but a remake of the 2019 Tamil thriller Thadam (not on Netflix). Aditya Roy Kapur plays a pair of stunt doubles accused of the same murder. gumraah it could have been a sexy police procedural, but instead it’s derailed by cheesy, romantic flashbacks.

This sequel to the 2018 Netflix original anthology lust stories sees four new directors present four short films based on the theme of lust, all of which are entertaining for very different reasons. The first of the shorts, «Made for Each Other» by R. Balki, in which an outspoken grandmother warns her granddaughter to make sure she is sexually compatible with her future boyfriend before marrying him, is charming and a good way to test if this collection is for you. Netflix was so impressed with lauded filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s first original series for the streamer, Ladlethat they signed him to a multi-year serial partnership. Ladle explores journalistic ethics in India and is based on a true story about a police reporter who is jailed for the murder of another reporter. Apart from the original Hindi version, English, Spanish, Tamil and Telugu dialogue options are available in the program’s audio menu.
