Max Homa shot well at the Rocket Mortgage Classic over the weekend and nearly made it to the top of the standings at Detroit Golf Club in Sunday’s final round.
Homa was on the par-3 15th hole and about 140 yards from the pin. His shot hit the green immediately and he bounced a few times before rolling back and finding the cup for a hole-in-one. He was all smiles and he was patting the hands of the golfers in his group.

He was Homa’s second ace on the PGA Tour and helped him finish with a 67 in the final round and 15-under for the tournament. He had five birdies and two bogeys on Sunday.

Homa told reporters afterward that he did not see the shot go in.
«I was missing every 7 to 12 feet of the week, so I decided to aim closer to the hole. It was like a perfect pitching wedge,» he said. «If he landed short, I thought he’d jump forward. If he landed where he did, he should get closer. I hit him good, couldn’t see it. I’ve hit two here now, couldn’t I?» I don’t see any of them. One day I’d like to see him come in. It’s great to hear the roar, especially in that hole. That hole is amazing. It was fun «.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to move back up the rankings. He finished tied for 21st.
Rickie Fowler stopped Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin in a tiebreaker. Each golfer finished 24 under par in the tournament. Fowler shot a 68 in the fourth round, while Morikawa finished with a 64 and Hadwin shot a 67.

It was Fowler’s first PGA Tour win since the Waste Management Phoenix Open in 2019. He has six PGA Tour wins in his career.
