Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene defended the man arrested Thursday in connection with a high-profile investigation into leaked classified documents.

In a tweet just hours after the FBI arrested 21-year-old Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira, Greene, a Georgia Republican, praised his alleged actions and hinted that President Joe Biden was «the real enemy.» «.

“Jake Teixeira is white, male, Christian and a pacifist. That makes him an enemy of the Biden regime. And he told the truth about the troops that were on the ground in Ukraine and much more,” Greene, a member of the Homeland Security Committee, said in Twitter. «Ask yourself who is the real enemy.»

His comments were at odds with the comments of the handful of republicans who intervened in the arrest praising law enforcement and demanding responsibility for the leak.

Federal authorities continue to investigate the leak, which exposed US intelligence on Russian efforts in Ukraine and spying on US allies.

Greene’s comments were met with backlash from some Democrats.

David Axelrod, chief strategist for Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns, called Greene’s tweet about Teixeira «truly crazywhile Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., accused her of siding with one of the country’s «greatest traitors.»

House Speaker Kevin, «McCarthy’s top lieutenant is siding with one of the biggest traitors America has ever seen,» tweeted Swalwell, who sits on the Homeland Security Committee with Greene. «Sorry Marge, being white, male, and Christian is not a license to betray your country and put the lives of thousands at risk. But this wouldn’t be the first time she’s sided with traitors.»

In 2020, Green tweeted that then-President Donald Trump should pardon WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, wanted on criminal charges after WikiLeaks released thousands of secret US files, and Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who exposed the US surveillance programs
