This is how Gremio announced the hiring of Luis Suárez
«Luis Suárez, welcome,» reads the Guild’s announcement on its social networks along with an image of Suárez wearing the shirt of the southern Brazilian club, where he will share a squad with the Colombian Jaminton Campaz.
Gremio accompanied the announcement with a video of the player celebrating his landing at the club. «Hello to all the Gremio fans, I wanted to thank you for all the love you have given me and that you are ready to enjoy these two wonderful years, to try to achieve great things. I send you a big hug and see you in the next few days», said the ‘9’ charrúa.
Suárez said goodbye to the World Cups in Qatar with 35 years without scoring and with the elimination of Uruguay in the first phase of the tournament. The scorer said goodbye in tears to his fourth World Cup, after a 2-0 victory for Uruguay against Ghana that was insufficient to advance to the round of 16 in a group that qualified Portugal and South Korea.
The goalscorer began his successful international tour at FC Groningen in the Netherlands and in 2014 joined FC Barcelona where he formed one of the most famous football trios with his friend Lionel Messi and Neymar. In that dream team he won the Champions League in 2015 and four leagues in Spain, among other tournaments.
In 2020, Suárez left the Catalan club and signed for Atlético de Madrid, crowning his career in Europe with a League championship in 2021, until he returned to Nacional in 2022.
