Government meets with Andi and SAC to lower inflation – Sectors – Economy

The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Germán Umaña Mendoza, announced that he has met with representatives of the National Association of Businessmen of Colombia (Andi) and the Society of Farmers of Colombia (SAC)), as well as the Ministers of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo, and Agriculture, Cecilia López.

The objective of this board is to consider the proposals of the private sector in the country in order to jointly counteract the effects of inflation through the reduction in food prices, as well as other types of products that are most frequently purchased in Colombian homes.

This meeting, according to Umaña, is a strategy that the Executive has been working on, that is, designed by President Gustavo Petro, with the confidence of the Government that inflation was going to reach its maximum limit in order to begin to drop.

“In the government of President Gustavo Petro we have been working on measures to combat inflation hand in hand with the private sector. We started a dialogue between the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Agriculture, the Andi and the SAC; and we will involve other actors in the productive sector, ”Umaña said on his Twitter account.

These meetings are taking place until May 5 arrives, the day on which the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) release the new Consumer Price Index report for the month of March, in which the cost of living results will also be maintained during the first quarter of 2023.
