Simona Halep, suspended since October for testing positive for a banned substance, faces a second doping charge.
Reuters reported that the latest charge stems from his Athlete Biological Passport showing irregularities in his profile.
«We understand that today’s announcement adds complexity to an already high-profile situation… We remain committed to engaging with Ms. Halep in an empathetic, efficient and timely manner,» Nicole Sapstead, senior director of anti-doping at the Agency International Tennis Integrity Committee, said in a statement.

Halep had previously been suspended due to a positive test for roxadustat at the US Open last year, which she denied knowingly taking.
The Romanian was ranked World No. 1 for a total of 64 weeks in her career, winning the 2018 French Open and 2019 Wimbledon championships. She reached the final of the Australian Open in 2018 and her best result at the US Open is the 2015 semifinal.
