Cristiano Ronaldo’s frustrations with a referee during his match with Al-Nassr on Tuesday were taken out with a soccer ball late in the first half against Abha.

Ronaldo, who was playing in the Champions’ Cup King’s Cup match in the Saudi Pro League, cleared with his chest from the Al-Nassr area and his teammates headed up with a good chance to get away. Al-Nassr was already up 2-0 in the match.

However, the referee blew the whistle just over the 47-minute mark: two minutes of extra time was added at the end of the regular 45-minute first half.

Ronaldo objected to that considering the golden opportunity to get another goal on the board, and immediately kicked the ball downfield.

Due to his anger, the referee reached into his pocket for his yellow card and handed it to Ronaldo. The 38-year-old soccer superstar scoffed at that, as she didn’t even look in the referee’s direction.

Al-Nassr did not need that scoring opportunity late in the match as they advanced to the semi-final with a 3-1 win over Abha. Sami Al-Najel, Abdullah Al-Khaibari and Mohammed Maran were the scorers for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo has been frustrated of late because he hasn’t put the ball into the back of the net in his last two games. That could have added to his decision to kick the ball into a great opportunity to change that.
