CNN later rejected the anchor’s statement, calling his claims «inaccurate.» Rather than be fired without notice, the company tweeted that Lemon was «offered the opportunity to meet with management, but issued a statement on Twitter instead.»

The high-profile departure comes just after Fox News announced that host Tucker Carlson would be leaving the outlet. It’s a major change for both companies as they lose two of the most popular hosts on cable television.
