Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has dismissed another letter from three Republican House Speakers seeking more information related to the secret money investigation that could lead to an indictment against former President Donald Trump.

in a letter Speaking to Bragg on Saturday, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil argued that Congress should be aware of the documents and testimony in the ongoing investigation into a $130,000 payment made during the 2016 Trump campaign to an adult film star. Stormy Daniels.

«Contrary to the central argument set forth in your letter, this matter does not simply involve state or local interests,» the lawmakers wrote. “Rather, the potential criminal indictment of a former president of the United States by a local prosecutor elected from the opposing political party (and who will face the prospect of re-election) involves substantial federal interests, particularly in a jurisdiction where the level of trial judges are also popularly elected.

Bragg, who had hit back at Republicans last week for requesting his congressional testimony about the investigation, hit back again in a statement shared on Twitter late Saturday.

“We evaluate cases in our jurisdiction based on the facts, the law and the evidence. It is inappropriate for Congress to interfere with pending local investigations,” Bragg wrote. «The unprecedented investigation by federal elected officials into an ongoing matter only serves to impede, disrupt, and undermine the legitimate work of our dedicated prosecutors.»

All three Republican chairmen solicited Bragg’s testimony in a letter last week. “He is reportedly about to participate in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the impeachment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office,” they wrote Monday.

His request came after Trump falsely predicted last weekend in a post on his Truth Social social media platform that he would be arrested on Tuesday. However, he is still pending a decision in the Manhattan grand jury investigation.

The move marked the first investigative action by the committees after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., vowed to examine people who have been investigating Trump.

The Manhattan district attorney’s office later criticized the Republicans on Thursday, arguing that they overstepped their request. Leslie Dubeck, general counsel for the Manhattan district attorney’s office, called her request for testimony from Bragg «an unprecedented investigation into pending local prosecution» that «only came after Donald Trump created a false expectation that he would be arrested the next day, and his lawyers reportedly urged you to intervene.

Since then, Trump has stepped up his attacks on Bragg and the investigation, warning of «potential death and destruction» if the prosecutor charges him in a Truth Social post early Friday.

Later that day, two law enforcement sources told NBC News that the FBI and NYPD were investigating a letter containing a death threat and white powder mailed to Bragg’s office.
