LOS ANGELES (AP) — Austin Majors, a child actor who got his start on «NYPD Blue,» has died. He was 27 years old.

The 27-year-old actor, who also went by the name Austin Setmajer-Raglin, died Saturday at a residence, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.

«Austin Majors (Setmajer-Raglin) was an artistic, brilliant and kind human being,» his sister, Kali Majors-Raglin, said Monday. «Austin was very happy and proud of his acting career.»

The cause of death has yet to be determined, pending further investigation, according to the coroner’s office.

Majors was born in 1995 and, by the end of the decade, was playing Theo, son of the «NYPD Blue» lead and Det. Andy Sipowicz (played by Dennis Franz).

Majors appeared in 48 episodes of the show through the mid-2000s, according to IMDB. He also appeared on other primetime shows, including «ER,» «According to Jim,» «NCIS» and «How I Met Your Mother.» He’s also acted in a relatively wide range of film and television projects, including «Desperate Housewives,» «American Dad!» and the animated film «Treasure Planet.»

«Most people will remember him as young Theo Sipowicz on ABC’s ‘NYPD Blue’ and the voice of Young Jim on Disney’s ‘Treasure Planet,’ but we will remember him as the warm-hearted, generous and caring person he was» , Philip Marcus, a director of Clear Talent Group, which represented Majors for several years, in a statement. «Austin’s talents were limitless.»

Kali Majors-Raglin said that after graduating from the University of Southern California, where she studied film and television production, her brother showed «a passion» for «directing and producing music.»

Kali Majors-Raglin, an actress who appeared on «ER» and «NCIS,» said her brother «never met a stranger and his goal in life was to make people happy.»

She said they both liked backpacking and volunteering at Kids With a Cause events.

«Austin was the type of son, brother, grandson and nephew to make us proud and will be deeply missed forever,» he said.
