Al Roker on Monday made a video call to TODAY on May 15 to update his progress since undergoing a total knee replacement on May 9 that now has him resting at home.

«He’s stiff,» Roker said. “This one is a little more complicated because it was what they call a review. It was a replacement of a replacement, so they had to take things out, put new things in, so it was a bit tricky.»

rocker was already walking down the hall at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City a day after the procedure, but has been taking it easy since returning home.

“I’ve just been hanging out,” he said. «Just chilling, doing nothing, which I know a lot of people find hard to believe, but that’s actually the case.»

As he catches up on «Poker Face» and «The Mandalorian,» he said he’ll do three days of physical rehabilitation a week for «a few months» to get back up to speed. She also shared her perspective for her comeback on TODAY.

“I hope to be back sometime in the next two weeks,” he said. “I’ll play it by ear every day, and that’s the thing. And yes, I know, I’m not going to rush back before I have to.»

He enjoyed a low-key Mother’s Day for his wife, Deborah Roberts, after they decided to order some quiche because going to one of their favorite restaurants was «not realistic» given Roker’s condition.

Roker is also enjoying the return of his son, Nick, from college after Deborah helped him out. pack up her bedroom on Mother’s Day.

“Nick just got home from school so it’s been great,” Roker said. “Until I heard him click that Peloton in the next room. he was waiting for remember it might have slowed it down a bit.

This marks Roker’s second knee replacement surgery in two years, having also had one in April 2022.
